Cheap & Cheerful Food Trucks - Los Angeles

If you are like me, you usually find out about a food truck event AFTER it's already happened. So annoying!

A friend told me about findlafoodtrucks.com which lists most of the popular trucks around town. Most of them offer twitter links so you can be kept updated on their whereabouts.

So whenever you thinking food truck...you can find out where your favorites are right now.

Cheap & Cheerful Book Fair - West Hollywood

Most Angelenos are familiar with the annual Festival of Books, but there will be nothing second rate about the 10th annual West Hollywood Book Fair. (625 N. San Vicente Blvd.)

What better way to kick off a new month then to check out a gorgeous new state-of-the-art library and enjoy 125 exhibitors and 12 stages of entertainment? And if that's not enough for you, Author Jackie Collins is making an appearance too, as well as 299 other authors.

The book fair runs from 10 am - 2pm. Saturday, October 1. The dedication of the library will be held at 10:30am. Free parking in the equally gorgeous new library parking structure or the Pacific Design Center across the street.

Cheap & Cheerful Early Oktoberfest

The calendar may say September, but the folks at Alpine Village (833 W. Torrance Blvd.) have already kicked off their 44th annual Oktoberfest. Home of the oldest and largest Oktoberfest celebration in Southern California, this year’s merry making will be held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday between September 9 and October 23 in a 32,000 square foot tent.

Whether it's "bier" Oom Pah Pah big bands, traditional German fare or just a really fun crush of humanity you seek, Alpine Village is as authentic as it gets in Los Angeles.

Oktober fest hours are Friday and Saturday, 6:00pm - Midnight, Sundays 1:00 pm until 6:00pm
