Welcome to Cheap & Cheerful Los Angeles
Cheap & Cheerful, British informal, costing little money but attractive, pleasant and enjoyable.
I've lived in Los Angeles for more than 25 years as a young professional, now currently the mother of 2 school-aged children and, God willing, someday as a spry senior citizen.
When I was in my 20's, I hung out with a lot of British and South African people who were in Los Angeles on a working vacation. They didn't have a lot of spending cash, but were determined to experience Los Angeles to the fullest. So there was always a sharing of information: a great club, a nice little restaurant, an off beat store, a cool concert series, a gallery opening...the best review a place could get from this lot was "Well that was Cheap & Cheerful!"
I loved the spirit of that! It wasn't about slumming in dives, but rather seeking out ways of experiencing the best LA has to offer --at the best price possible. I want this blog to share that sensibility and to promote the Cheap & Cheerful aspects of living in Los Angeles.
Welcome, Enjoy and please Share your Cheap & Cheerful suggestions!
