One of the main reasons people come to Los Angeles is to get a peak into the Hollywood "Dream Factory". Most of us know about Universal Studio tours, but what about Warner, Disney, Paramont and Sony?
I found a listing of most of the major studios tour contact information. Please call before you go as there tend to be seasonal changes to tour offerings.

Cheap & Cheerful Espresso in the Woods-Ferndall Park
This blog is not about restaurants, but a hike in Ferndall Park (Ferndall Drive & Los Feliz Blvd) is made that much better by having coffee and a treat at Trails restaurant. Ferndall Park is at the base of Griffith Park on the Los Angeles side, just east of where Western Avenue elbows to the east and becomes Los Feliz Blvd.
Waterfalls, small bridges and ferns from all over the world make this a shady retreat on a hot day. Parking is plentiful but popular, so the early hiker gets the spot. There is a playground on the east side of the trail should younger hikers need a diversion. About 10 minutes up the path you will come upon Trails restaurant which is a breakfast/lunch/coffee spot. Since parking is free, and there is no admission fee to the park, live it up and have a pastry or sandwich.
Trails is open 8a.m. - 6:30pm Tues. - Sat.
323-871-2102
Griffith Park is open daily 5:30am - 9:30pm

Cheap & Cheerful Railroad Ride-Angels Flight
Best 25 cents you will ever spend!
For the price of a gumball, experience a one way ride on the "Shortest Railway in the World" at Angel's Flight.(351 S. Hill Street)
Opened in 1901 this 350 foot funicular system of two counterbalanced cars moving up and down parallel tracks was created to transport passengers along the steep grade between Third and Hill Street and the then very fashionable Bunker Hill.
The ride lasts a minute, but the memory will last a lifetime. In a city notorious for tearing things down, Angels Flight (that is how it is spelled, with no apostrophe) is a charming slice of time travel as well as a huge time saver for people wanting to get from the California Plaza to the Grand Central Market or visa versa. A must for Angelenos and tourists alike.
Hours are 6:45 am to 10:oo pm daily.
Angels Flight puts the fun in funicular!
