Long Beach is the place to be this weekend with both the Dragonboat and Crawfish Festivals in full swing.
In addition to being one of the largest dragon boat competitions in California, The Long Beach Dragon Boat Festival,Saturday July 30 - Sunday July 31, offers Chinese traditional art demonstrations, Chinese Acrobats, traditional dance, hip hop, salsa, magic shows and martial arts performances.
The action takes place at Marine Stadium, (255 Paoli Way)one of the world's premier water skiing facilities. The stadium was the site for the 1932 Olympic Rowing competition and the 1968 Olympic rowing trials. Sand beach, picnicking and ample parking make it a great place to spend the day.

And while you are in Long Beach, check out the 18th Annual Long Beach Crawfish Festival, also held July 30-31. The fun starts at noon and is centered at the Rainbow Lagoon (400-403Shoreline Village Drive) Combining the best Cajun, Zydeco, and New Orleans sounds of music, the Crawfish Festival serves up tons of fresh crawfish prepared Louisiana style - served by authentic Cajun chefs, a giant food court, children’s area, dance floor, two stages and beach bars. This is the largest Crawfish Festival outside of Louisiana.
