Cheap & Cheerful Architectural/Spiritual combo- Downtown

Been to a good Cathedral lately? Well our very own Cathedral of our Lady of Angels (555 W. Temple Street) is world class.

What, I'm telling you to go hang out in a church? Hey if you were in London, St Paul's is worth a look, if you were in Paris Sainte-Chapelle is usually part of the tour and New York"s St. Patrick's cathedral has droves of visitors so why not check out the state of art in sacred architecture?

Pritzker Prize-winning architect José Rafael Moneo is know for his use of materials and natural light. Our Lady of Angeles does not have the medieval detailing of her European counterparts, but it a calming space in spite of traffic of the Harbor Freeway roaring past the north wall of the property.

The least expensive time to visit the Cathedral is Saturday and Sunday when parking is $5.00 . However check the mass schedule so you time your arrival to either be a part of that, or not.

Concerts and other programming is scheduled. I saw a modern Shakespeare production on the plaza one summer's night and it was really nice.
